That’s why freeze-dried meals are a great solution when camping — not only are they easy to pack, but are also quick to prepare and can be as healthy and nutritious as any other meal.

1. Dehydrated vegetables
This dehydrated camping food will make your meals nutritious and colourful. You can take dried tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and a medley of yellow, green and red bell peppers.
2. Soup packets
Freeze-dried soup meals are available at every supermarket and you can choose between a variety of flavours and brands.
3. Ramen noodles
The recipe for this well known freeze-dried food doesn’t have to be basic. Mix it up with vegetables and spices you took on your trip and you’ll get one of the best tasting dehydrated camping foods.
4. Dried fruit
When packing for your next trip, think about getting enough dry food containing nutrients, vitamins and minerals. We recommend dried fruit such as grapes, apples, apricots, dates and bananas.
Oatmeal is one of the most nutritious dried foods. Choose a type that is less processed and has limited added sugars, mix it up with fruits and enjoy your healthy breakfast!
The best dehydrated camping food needs to take up little space. Couscous is great because you’ll get a serving for two from a half a cup of the ingredient.
7. Spice powder packets
You don’t want your camping recipes tasting like cardboard, right? To create yummy camping combinations take garlic, onion, basil, rosemary and cumin powder.
Dehydrated camping food recipes
Cooking dehydrated meals while camping doesn’t have to be boring. Sometimes it means putting a little more effort while shopping for ingredients, but it all pays out when you’re on your trip and enjoying something easy-to-prepare and, at the same time, exotic.
Not your average ramen
The real dehydrated camping food magic comes from using a lot of vegs and spices!
Boil two cups of water, add ramen, a bouillon cube, crumbled toasted nori, dehydrated corn and soy sauce. Simmer for about five minutes, then garnish with green onions and chilli flakes — and voila, the not your average ramen is ready!
Coconut curry soup
For this recipe, you’ll need coconut cream powder. It’s a bit hard to find, but it should be available in Asian grocery stores and online.
Boil the noodles and dehydrated vegetables. When the veggies are rehydrated and the noodles are cooked, stir in the coconut cream mixture, a bouillon cube, curry powder and cayenne pepper.
Once you have boiling water, you can prepare most of these freeze-dried options in less than 10 minutes. On the other hand, it’s totally understandable that, while on a camping trip, you want to take a day off from cooking.
