If you’re looking to spend your vacation on a cycling holiday in Europe, we suggest you conquer these 5 trails.

Vrana Lake Nature Park

Vrana lake is a nature park that’s also a beautiful ornithological reserve. It’s home to more than 235 species of birds, with the overall number of birds varying from 20.000 to 200.000. So, if you’re interested in birdwatching, this park has the trail for you!

There are over 50 km of cycling trails, and the most popular one starts by the local church in Vrana town, goes uphill to Majdan, which offers a beautiful view of the entire ornithological reserve, then continues along the lake’s north shore.

Krka National Park

The national park has 14 cycling trails 5 are for mountain biking, 3 are road trails and 6 are track trails for family cycling holiday. The longest one is “the royal trail”, a 95 km route that starts in Skradin, visits Rupe and Kistanje and ends in Burnum, a Roman legion camp. On the way back to Skradin, it dips into the Krka river canyon twice, giving cyclists an option to rest while enjoying views of beautiful waterfalls.

Velebit Nature Park

Velebit is Croatia’s largest mountain, home to endemic animals and plants, and as such, a big part of it is under state protection. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t explore it on your bike. This nature park has 12 cycling trails that all require prior cycling experience.

It’s difficult to choose just one, so we’re recommending two trails, both challenging and rewarding: Oltari – Zavižan – Lom – Lubenovac – Alan (44,5 km) and Južni Velebit (30,9 km).

Varaždin

Varaždin county has a long history of cycling, with a cyclist association that was founded back in the 19th century. So, it’s no surprise they have several beautiful mapped out routes. The best route for getting to know this region, its gastronomy, culture and landscape is to take the From castle to castle trail which will take you from Varaždin’s castle, to Lepoglava and Trakošćan castle. It’s 82 km, but so worth it!

Via Dinarica Green Trail

Via Dinarica is one of Europe’s most unspoiled hiking routes. It’s perfect for adventurers and offers plenty of challenges for trekkers, hikers and cyclists. For cycling, we recommend its Green trail — it takes you along some of the mountains of the Dinaric Alps, and guides you to the green oases of Croatia, Gorski kotar and Lika.

If you’ve chosen Pag as your holiday destination, you’ll have plenty of miles to explore.

There are 120 km of trails on Pag to start off you cycling holiday. If you don’t have a bicycle, you can rent one at the Camp shop

There’s no better way to recuperate from a cycling adventure than by relaxing on a beach.
